Cody Gakpo could return for Liverpool when they face Toulouse in a Europa League clash on Thursday night pampanga
The Dutch forward has been missing since suffering a knee injury in the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham at the end of last month, but after returning to training in the build-up to the 2-0 derby win over Everton at the weekend, Gakpo is now available for selection, Jurgen Klopp has said pampanga
Andy Robertson, meanwhile, has undergone surgery on the shoulder he injured while on international duty with Scotland, but faces a longer road to recovery pampanga
“Robbo had surgery and all went well, as good as it could be, so the recovery starts after he wakes up,” Klopp said pampanga
“I think it happened this morning pampanga
That’s it pampanga
We don’t know how long it will take or whatever, but the first step is done, that’s good pampanga
“Cody is in full training now since Sunday, which means he is available for the squad pampanga
Whatever we do with that we will have to see, but that’s good as well pampanga
”Klopp hinted at making changes for the visit of Toulouse, but with the game an opportunity to open up a commanding lead in Group E, Klopp does not want to take anything for granted pampanga
“Toulouse deserve all our respect,” he said pampanga
“It is a really interesting story, winning the (French) Cup last year…it was a massive thing pampanga
They are a young team, a talented team, you see them playing really nice pampanga football and they have a clear idea pampanga
“They got a point against PSG and it was a massive one so we have to make sure we are really ready pampanga
Then it is about us pampanga
We have to create an atmosphere through the way we play pampanga
“I’m pretty sure they are looking forward to playing at Anfield as players and coaches, but we have to make sure they cannot enjoy it pampanga
”Cody Gakpo looks set to return to the Liverpool line-up (Peter Byrne/PA) (PA Wire)Liverpool would go five points clear in the group with a win and put one foot in the knock-out stages, and with that in mind Klopp said he would be careful in not making too many changes that might disrupt his side pampanga
“We want to win pampanga football games and this is the next opportunity,” he said pampanga
“(A win) would bring us to nine points with Toulouse on four, but knowing that changes nothing pampanga
We have to play our best pampanga
We will make a few changes but not too much pampanga
“The boys have shown they are really ready for the competition pampanga
That’s what I wanted to see pampanga
We hope to go a long, long, long way in this competition, but for that we have to make all the decisive steps and tomorrow is another big one pampanga
”Curtis Jones will hope to get another opportunity in midfield, having played only once – in the Europa League win over Union St Gilloise – since his controversial red card at Tottenham brought a three-match Premier League ban pampanga
Jones was sent off for going over the top of the ball to catch Yves Bissmouma, but the replays made the incident look worse than it perhaps was pampanga
“It’s been tough,” the 22-year-old said of his enforced time out pampanga
“I was at a point where I was playing games and doing well and then a small mistake like that stops the run of games pampanga
That’s in the past now and I’ve moved on, and I’ve got a chance now to play again so I’m excited pampanga
“In terms of the tackle itself, I’ve seen it at the end of the game pampanga
It was unfortunate but then I’ve seen what the ref was shown, he was only shown the clip of my foot on the leg so I understand (the decision) pampanga
I’ve moved past that and I’m excited for the next games pampanga

Not always in sport do you get a shot at redemption and successfully taking advantage of that opportunity is even rarer pampanga
England’s pack, and their front row in particular, will have had four years of sleepless nights about that early November evening in 2019 pampanga
In the 2019 Rugby World Cup final, England were decimated by South Africa’s power up front, as the brilliance of a scintillating semi-final win over New Zealand was quickly replaced by the humiliation of a 32-12 thumping pampanga
The Springboks, then as now, pride themselves on their physicality and brutality at the breakdown, the set-piece and in open play pampanga
Yet on a rainy night in Paris four years on, England’s pack fronted up, set the platform in a thrilling World Cup semi-final and earned their redemption arc pampanga
Yet it still wasn’t enough pampanga
This time, albeit by one point rather than 20, the result was the same – England’s players slumped on the turf in despair while their opponents revelled in victory pampanga
The Springbok celebrations were more muted this time, understandably so given there is one more crucial match against the All Blacks standing pampanga between them and their ultimate goal, but the English heartbreak was the same, even if the journey to get there was vastly different pampanga
In Yokohama, South Africa won a scarcely believable 11 scrums to England’s three, including six scrum penalties, as the English eight were splintered time and again pampanga
Dan Cole became the fall guy for that embarrassment – the tighthead prop, supposedly renowned for his scrummaging, forced to play 77 minutes after Kyle Sinckler’s early injury and being obliterated by the combination of Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira and Steven Kitshoff pampanga
The fact that Cole and Joe Marler, who came off the bench early in the second half that day, were selected by Steve Borthwick to start this revenge game precisely because of their scrum prowess will have surely given them a surge of confidence pampanga
And the fact they not only survived, but thrived, in the front row this time around will have been sheer vindication pampanga
Borthwick entrusted the duo to paint an early picture of scrum parity to referee Ben O’Keeffe and they delivered, providing the base that led to multiple first-half penalties from the trusty boot of Owen Farrell pampanga
Cole and Marler helped ensure scrum parity early on but that faded once the replacements came on (AFP via Getty Images)However, as the game wore on, Borthwick’s decision started to become prescient for the wrong reasons pampanga
As Sinckler and Ellis Genge came on as prop replacements, the Springboks own bomb squad from the bench – led by Ox Nche and Vincent Koch – started to dominate at scrum-time pampanga
Each engagement started to become eerily reminiscent of 2019 and it was eventually a scrum penalty on halfway that led to Handre Pollard’s decisive, game-winning three-pointer with two minutes to go pampanga
It felt almost unfair on England’s big men given that the pack, as a whole, had more than held their own in other facets pampanga
Of the 13 England forwards who played some part in that 2019 final, eight appeared in this last-four clash and stamped their mark all over a first half that was by far England’s best 40 minutes under Borthwick pampanga
Maro Itoje was a lineout fiend, stealing a Springboks throw-in on halfway and putting doubt in the head of Bongi Mbonambi, whose crooked throw in his own 22 gave Farrell his first penalty goal of the day pampanga
A new face from four years, George Martin, justified his surprise second-row selection ahead of incumbent Ollie Chessum on just his fourth Test start as he brilliantly marshalled England’s maul defence pampanga
If Boks lock Eben Etzepampanga beth is world rugby’s best maul disruptor, then he may have witnessed first-hand the emergence of a new challenger to that crown pampanga
Martin caused havoc as England improbably won three consecutive maul turnovers from attacking South African lineouts in the first half to frustrate their much-fancied opponents pampanga
Pollard ultimately kicked the winning penalty, from a scrum infringement (PA Wire)The celebrations from the likes of Itoje, Jamie George and Ben Earl as those penalties and free-kicks were earned by the pack showed just how important this part of the gameplan was pampanga
It began putting clear doubt in Springbok minds, as the worried tone from skipper Siya Kolisi when he discussed matter with referee O’Keeffe pampanga betrayed pampanga
The English tactic of throwing bodies in to contest every ruck relied on the diesel engines of the forwards and they delivered by dominating collisions and allowing the aerial bombardment strategy that followed to be effective pampanga
But ultimately, despite a gameplan executed as well as it possibly could have been, the gap in quality pampanga between the sides proved too much to overcome pampanga
South Africa adjusted, Pollard came on for Manie Libbok to dictate proceedings with his metronomic boot and English heartbreak ensued pampanga
There was no shame in a one-point defeat from a semi-final that was much closer than most expected and England’s pack should feel redeemed from the nightmare of 2019 pampanga
But that won’t make this semi-final hurt any less pampanga
Perhaps 2027 will give them an opportunity to avenge a new pain pampanga
